William Gerald Mack of South Pittsburg, TN, age 21, died unexpectedly on Monday, April 19, 2010 while serving aboard the Submarine USS Nebraska.
An active duty Sailor with the US Navy, he graduated from Richard Hardy Memorial School, attended University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and was a former employee of both Stevarino's and Lotto Mart in South Pittsburg.
Will was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Carl Mack.
Will is survived by his parents, Gerald & Susan Mack of South Pittsburg; sisters, Vanessa LaPaglia of South Pittsburg and Dena Brackett of Woodstock, GA; grandparents, Bill & Marie Steelman of Brentwood, TN and Shirley Mack of Monteagle, TN; uncles and aunts, Jim & Patti Steelman of Birmingham, AL and Edward & Brenda Steelman of MI; great-uncles and aunts, Bob & Marie Copeland of Pomona, CA, JD & Katherine Mullins of Mulberry, TN, Maurice & Freda Allyn of Houston, TX and Phil & Connie Flagg of Westfield, MA; great aunt, Mary Copeland of Nashville, TN; great uncles, Frank Copeland of Edenton, NC and Henry Beasley of Springfield, MO; nieces, Hannah Brackett and Megan Brackett.
Funeral services, officiated by Anthony Grills, will be held at Holly Avenue United Methodist Church in South Pittsburg on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at 10:30 AM Central Time. Interment will follow at 2:00PM Central Time in Booneville Cemetery near Lynchburg, TN.
Visitation will be at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg on Friday, April 30, 2010 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM Central Time. On Saturday, the body will lie in state at the church for two hours prior to the service.
