Obituary

William Lee Wynne, 93, died of natural causes on Saturday, September 1, 2018, at his home in South Pittsburg, Tennessee.

The son of the late William and Verna Morrison Wynne, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Betty Morgan Wynne, and an infant son.

He retired from TVA after 43 years of service and was a US Navy veteran of World War II. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a 50-year member of Marion Lodge #515 F & AM, and was a member of the Alhambra Shrine of Chattanooga. He was an 84-year member of South Pittsburg First Baptist Church, and in recognition of his longtime, faithful service, the church awarded him Deacon Emeritus. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching sports, and camping with family. He is especially remembered for being so sweet, kind, and soft spoken, and for his willingness to help repair anything that needed fixing.

Mr. Wynne is survived by his son, William M. (Bonnie) Wynne, of South Pittsburg; daughter, Elise (Chris) Layne, of Manchester, Tennessee; sister, Margaret (Gene) Landstreet, of Ooltewah, Tennessee; brother, Riley Wynne, of Kingston, Tennessee; brother-in-law, Lt. Col., US Army ret. Harold D. (Joan) Morgan, of Vicksburg, Mississippi; grandchildren, Will (Ashley) Layne, of Tullahoma, Tennessee, Kristen (Chris) Kilby, of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Matt (Maria) Allen, of Lafayette, Louisiana; nieces and nephews, Cathy (Steve) Palko, of Harriman, Tennessee, Judy (Doug) Webb, of Mobile, Alabama, Michelle Morgan, of Huntsville, Alabama, Jimmy (Myra) Wynne, of Kingston, Tennessee, Dentzel (Kathy) Landstreet, of Ringgold, Georgia, Don (Pam) Landstreet, of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, Lt. Col. US Air Force ret. Dennis (Barbara) Phillips, of Jasper, Tennessee, Harold Morgan, Jr., of Gulfport, Mississippi, and Marshall (Jeanette) Morgan, of Jackson, Mississippi. Mr. Wynne's nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Central time with Rev. Charlie Campbell, officiating. Interment will be in Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Central time at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to First Baptist Church, 306 5th Street, South Pittsburg, TN 37380, make a blood donation to your local blood bank, or to a charity of your choice.
