Woodrow W. Parker, 89, of Jasper, died Tuesday after a lengthy illness.A Navy veteran of World War II and the D-Day Invasion, he was the Postmaster at Jasper for 23 years, retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Jasper Cumberland Presbyterian Church.He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Troxell Parker, his parents, Ben and Mary Finley Parker, four brothers, Mike, Orville, Malie, and Ernest Parker, and a sister, Letha Hughes.He is survived by two sons, Benny (Teresita) Parker, of Jasper, and Woodrow W. "Woody" Parker, of Whitwell, seven grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be held at the Jasper Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home at 2:00pm CDT Saturday, August 18, with Rev. James Patterson and Rev. Wayne Tompkins officiating. Interment will be in Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens.There will be no visitation prior to the time of the service.The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Jasper Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
