Gerald King

Gerald Douglas King, 83, passed away Tuesday, Mar. 3, 2020 at his home in Chattanooga.  He was retired from Cleveland Utilities and was a member of Westwood Baptist Church in Cleveland, Tennessee.

Born in South Pittsburg, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Charles Thomas Sr., and Julia Sparkman King.

He was preceded in death by his brothers:  Charles Thomas King, Jr., James E. King, Walter A. (Buddy) King, Crawford L. King; sisters: Willie Mae Collins, Martha Frances Durham and Edna Ruth Kennemore.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carolyn Vassey King; daughters Valorie A. King (James Bowen), Stacey G. Kennedy (Ralph); son Brian Keith Bettis (Stephanie); brother George R. King (Doris); 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and various nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held Friday, Mar. 6, 1:00 pm EST/12:00 CST at the New Hope Cemetery in South Pittsburg, Tennessee with the Rev. Nolan Phillips of Westwood Baptist Church officiating.  Rogers Funeral Home of South Pittsburg is in charge of the arrangements.  Memories and condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.rogersfuneralhome.com .
